Out of Town PAtients
In addition to our local patients in the DFW area, we serve a large number of patients from all over the state of Texas, Canada, Mexico, and beyond. We offer virtual video consults via Doxy to connect with our patients in a convenient way. Many of our patients prefer to manage their own travel and accommodation arrangements, but we are pleased to provide information if needed. The type of procedure determines how long patients are required to stay in the area before flying home. For most surgical patients, we recommend that they stay in the Dallas area for 7 to 10 days and in some cases longer depending on the procedure. Some patients will opt to return home approximately 48 hours after their procedure and return for their 1 week follow up visit, but we don’t recommend travelling long distances shortly after surgery.

Pre op and post-op appointments
An in-person pre-op appointment is required for out-of-town patients that have done a virtual consultation. We usually schedule the pre-op appointment the day before surgery, so the patient can arrive in advance and have time to rest and settle. At that pre-op appointment the doctor and nurses go over the paperwork and instructions for the procedure. Some patients prefer to schedule the pre-op visit for an earlier date than the day before surgery, so please contact us if you would like to do so.
The day after the surgery, we have the patient come back to our clinic for a post-op appointment, which includes a wound check, review of instructions, and further care as needed. After that, usually around one week later, we have the patient come back for suture removal. Subsequent follow-ups can be discussed with the doctor, and can be done in-person or virtually.
